Laser Sailor gets run over by Tour Boat.

Alerted by D12 Sailors from Charleston area about the need to be careful in Charleston Harbor. There is a lot of commercial traffic there , so keep your eyes open. Fortunately it looks like this laser sailor escaped relatively unharmed. Check the story. Despite that incident Charleston Harbor is a great place to sail, particularly when the seabreeze finds its way into the harbor. That said lets see big numbers of full and particularly radial rigs at CYC - SC’s open regatta this weekend. This regatta counts for radial grand prix points and towards the D12 Radial Championship Series trophy. Check out the NOR. See you in Charleston this weekend.

The following weekend the 3rd in the D12 Championship Series will be held in conjunction with CYC-NC’s open regatta. Hopefully the seabreeze will bless Wrightsville as well. Online registration is open. Come on and go surfing with your fellow D12 sailors in the Atlantic.

Check out the picture below and you’ll see D12 laser sailors Patrick Wilson and Josh Putnam in some very elite company as they represent the US at the Pan Am Games in Rio sailing on a J24. Go guys. Follow them on the this website.

Action at the ISAF Worlds in Cascais

OK D12 things are getting ready to heat up on the coast. Next weekend, July 21,22 you can get in some Charleston Harbor practice at Charleston Yacht Club’s open regatta or you can join the Lasers at Wrightsville for Ocean 3. The following weekend, July 28,29 D12 returns to Charleston Harbor and the Carolina Yacht Club for our Radial Grand Prix Event. This race can get you some radial grand prix points and counts towards the radial series trophy. Lets make this the biggest fleet at the regatta. Then Carolina Yacht Club at Wrightsville Beach will host our 3rd D12 Championship Series Event 8/4,5. Sea breeze has been big this year so far.

Last weekend heard there were about 20 lasers at Savannah Yacht Clubs Firecracker Regatta. If anyone has some scores email them to us and we will put them up. Way further south Radial Sailor Devon Rohde picked up 11th place at The Ida Lewis Regatta at Lake Pontchartrain sailing as crew with Lindsay Grove. Devon , Emilie Mademann and Elizabeth Chambers are also registered to compete in the Leiter Cup starting July 29. After surviving tropical storm Barry, John Mellnik took on the Floridians in the O’day semifinals at Clearwater.
