Ok, now that everyone has recovered from tropical storm Barry its time to hit the road and go laser sailing again. Lots of activity this weekend. James Island Yacht Club is hosting their open regatta and usually has a good turn out of lasers - both full and radials. Its a great club and very sailor friendly. In addition Carolina Sailing Club-NC is hosting the 50th North Carolina Governor’s Cup on Kerr Lake. You Triangle D12 guys should check it out. Lake Lanier is also hosting their annual Reggae Regatta and already there are some lasers registered. Finally CYC-NC is running its 2nd Ocean Race of the season. So if you want to surf some waves in the ocean come on down to Wrightsville Beach.

The following weekend likewise has plenty to offer. The Oriental Dingy Club is hosting the NC Masters in Oriental. You get to sail with our masters buddies from D11 and enjoy a great sailing venue. In addition there is usually a strong laser contingent at Beaufort Yacht Clubs Lowcountry Regatta. You can not beat their Frogmore Stew.

Also not too early to make plans for the Radial Grand Prix Event to be held in conjunction with Carolina Yacht Club’s open regatta in Charleston July 28-29. Lets shoot for 40 radials on the line in Charleston Harbor. Remember this counts for the radial series but not the overall series.

Tropical Storm Barry beat up and drenched D12 this weekend in Savannah. 15 of the 29 registered sailors made it around the course for one race on Saturday braving sustained winds of 22-25 knots of wind with gusts > 35 knots. Over 6 inches of rain blasted over the course as well. Unbelievable downwind runs with plenty of deathrolls. Fortunately the RC took pity on the sailors and called it a day after the one epic race. Racing was canceled on Sunday as 30 knot gusts continued to buffet the area. Congratulations to Peter Gamble for his 1st place finish. Thanks to PRO Bob Bowden and the RC for getting a race completed in extreme conditions. Thanks to Charlie Usher and the Howells for treating us to great Savannah Hospitality - again. Check all the results here. Have updated the series results as well.
Medal race on Sunday Part 1 , Part 2.

For those of you in the Greensboro/Raleigh area we are starting to get some activity on Lake Townsend. 4 boats turned up at the Mayors Cup this weekend and all won a trophy. Surely there are a bunch of laser sailors in that area ready to get back into their boats. Drop Kent an email if you are. Looking for a used boat - check out the for sale ads or post a wanted ad on the Laser Forum.
